According to an answer in your FAQ the chronological order for the first 5 books of Ninth Pass are Dragonflight, Dragonsong, Dragonquest, Dragonsinger, The White Dragon.

The book The Dragonriders of Pern is referred to as an omnibus of the first three books (Barnes & Noble Website) but it contains the books you suggest reading 1st, 3rd, and 5th.

I’m curious as to why The Dragonriders of Pern is referred to as an omnibus of the first three books when according to you its not.

Roberta,

The answer is that the Omnibus contains the three adult books, Dragonflight, Dragonquest, and White Dragon. Dragonsong, Dragonsinger, and Dragondrums were written as YA’s –Young Adult books — and are collectively also known as the Harper Hall trilogy. However, there is some amount of overlap between the events depicted in the Harper Hall trilogy and the events in the Dragonriders of Pern which is why we tend to suggest intermingling the YA’s with the adult books.

Cheers,
Todd
