Hi Todd,

Just read your reply to my previouse email. My girlfriend saw it and definitely agrees with you about self-censorship, kindly reminding me about my own natural curiosity about books when I was growing up.

Mind you, I was a bit too inquisitive when I was a teenager — I came across James Herbert’s RATS in a high school library and gave myself nightmares for weeks. So, needless it say, it was many more years until I read the follow-on books. I have a very good imagination so I was very careful about what I read until I hit adulthood. I still prefer to sit down to a good book than watch the idiot box in the corner of the room.

It has been known for me to get though a 5oo-page book in a week, and that’s just comuting to and from work; so I get very frustrated when I finish a very good story like yours or your mum’s.

Keep up the good work and keep this and people like me in good entertaining stories!

Cheers,
Stewart

Hi Stewart,

I understand about getting through books — I got through “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” in a day. I also just last night went through “The Da Vinci Code” in one sitting.

Sometimes I wish I could write as fast as I can read!

Dragonsblood will be nearly half again as long as “Dragon’s Kin”, so hopefully you’ll not be so frustrated. Of course, you’re going to have to wait until next Spring.

Cheers,
Todd

SpaceShipOne launch June 21

On June 21st, Scaled Composites, in association with Paul G. Allen, will launch SpaceShipOne in a bid to reach space (officially defined as 100 kilometers — 62 miles — up).

The launch, planned for 6:30 a.m., will be open to the public.

I’m planning on being there.

Here’s the info from the marvelous guys at Scaled Composites.

Hi Todd!

I was one of the lucky people at Dragon*Con in Atlanta this past year who was able to play your newly opened Dragonriders boardgame. (Which was soooo Awesome and I can’t say thank you enough for that!) I was wondering, are there any plans to revive the Dragonriders of Pern boardgame? Perhaps a version that would incorporate more of the newer characters? Could fans of the game start a petition or something to show companies that there are many loyal fans who would purchase the game?

Hi Lori,

Yes, it would be nice to see a re-issue of the Dragonriders of Pern boardgame. I don’t think anything in particular can be done, I think it depends upon the company that owns the rights to the game design and whether they want to release another.

Cheers,
Todd
