Letter from Kasey

Mr. McCaffrey,

I was idly clicking around on your site, having recently become obsessed with your mother’s and your books about Pern (though I did buy “The Dolphins of Pern” at around 6 years old, but held off on reading it), when I happened to find the ’20 Questions’ page, and saw that you liked the Alanna/Lioness Rampant series by Tamora Pierce. I found it highly surprising; I have never met anybody that has even heard of her, apart from me. Have you happened to have read the Wild Magic series or the Protector of the Small series, also by Ms. Pierce?

Hi Kasey!

Please call me, Todd.

I picked up the Protector of the Small but it didn’t do much for me. I was hoping to see more of Alanna. Still I think Ms. Pierce writes quite well. Her books are prominently displayed (and selling well, I hope) in the Teen Read sections of most of the bookstores I frequent.

Cheers,
Todd

Mew. College is in full swing. I am already nuts about my major and have been working on an assignment about a game sign for my profess.

I’m looking at going to Dragon*Con, or MTAC this coming year. I can’t deside if it’s cost effective to go to two cons.

BTW mom is just about half way through A Gift of Dragons (I’m trying really hard to get her into Pern books since D*C and finding that she liked “Anne’s interesting” attitude. XD ) But since, she a snail reader and is … near-sighted? as it is… she doesn’t like to read but she’s enjoying it.

I will write on my story, I must write on my story, I have no time for my story. ;-;

Hi Kathleen!

What’s your major?

What’s MTAC?

Write your story! (Try Connie Willis’ trick of just finding 15 minute chunks and using them.)

Cheers,
Todd

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

I just saw it. It was a lot of fun, reminiscent of all the old serials (which I was too young to see) and full of 30s styles and Art Decco look. I loved the coloring they used and all the sepia tones. It’s obvious that Kerry Conran, the writer and director, made this as a labor or love — and that’s why it’s cleaning up at the box office.
