The new US cover

The new US cover

Hi all!

I’ve been keeping this under wraps until I knew it was official and it’s so official that the new cover for Dragonsblood is on display at amazon.com.

Anyway, without further ado, here’s the new cover. I’m using a small image to keep from bogging the Internet done too much. The artist is Les Edwards who is pulling together a website and we’ll link with it as soon as it’s available.

Dear Todd,

I just returned from a fantastic “Get Caught Reading at Sea” Cruise to the Caribbean. It was warm and wonderful. When they asked for authors to invite for the possible next cruise, you and Anne were first on my list!! I hope they have another, and it will be just right for your next book’s debut.

Have a great day,

Teannette

Dear Teannette,

Congratulations on your cruise! It sounds like a blast. As I recall, Mum once was on author on a QEII tour crossing the Atlantic and had a great time.

Dragonsblood is set for January 25th — did you see the US cover? They switched it and are using the UK artwork. Very pretty.

Cheers,
Todd

Dear Todd,

Just wanted to let you know how much my hubby & I enjoyed you at DragonCon. Especially your readings! We loved the reading of your Dragon riders of Pern script. My hubby, Mark, read Flar. I wanted to let you know that I taped the whole thing & if you would like a copy I can make you a dvd of it.

Looking forward to your new book!

Merian

Dear Merian,

Thanks! It was a great con and I’m glad you enjoyed it.

As to that script — eek! And I say again, eek! It was quite illuminating to see some of the dialog just fall flat like that. But I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised — I’d warned you all that it was a very early draft and I hadn’t tweaked it (and boy! did that show!). Still, it was fun.

As for a tape, err, I hadn’t expected the event to be taped. If I had considered the possibility, I probably wouldn’t have brought out the script at all. The legal ramifications are scary.

The US version of Dragonsblood has a new cover, using the UK artwork. You can check it out at amazon.com and bn.com. I’ll also be posting a copy of it online shortly.

Cheers,
Todd

Letter from Nhorad

Dear Todd

I know this might be a dumb question, but it’s still a question. Does a story have to have a narrator? Or can it just be like a “coversation” type of story? Plus, I doubt you know or not, but did they ever make a movie about Pern or anything related to Pern? Thanks.

Sincerly

Nhorad.

Hi Nhorad!

No, a story doesn’t have to have a narrator. Usually, though, a narrator works best.

As for Pern movies — various novels of Pern have been optioned on and off since 1984. No movie or TV series has ever yet been made. One day, perhaps!

Cheers,
Todd
