Letter from Kristin

I am halfway through Dragonsblood (would have read it quicker but as a mother of 3 under the age of 5, it is really hard to get the time to read!) and I love it! I absolutely love how you’ve linked everything together and have really continued the spirit of Pern through this book. Job well done!

So of course, that leads to the question of whether or not you’re going to write any other Pern novels in the future and also, are you in the process of writing any other books?

Again, I am in love with this book already. You’ve done a wonderful job!

Kindest regards,
Kristin

Oh, Kristin!

I doff my imaginary hat to you in real acknowledgement of the effort it is to deal with three kids under 5. Hang in there. I won’t say that it’ll get better but it will get different. Kids teach us so much about ourselves, it’s awesome (in the full meaning of the word).

And you must be doing very well to find time to read as well! I’m glad that Dragonsblood is giving you joy.

Yes, there are other books — Mum and I are working on two sequels to Dragon’s Kin, the first to be called “Dragon’s Fire” (at least today — titles change). I’m also thinking more about the sequel to Dragonsblood. And I have many of my own stories in totally different universes from Mum’s — at least a few of which I’m thinking about all the time.

Thank you again for your kind words!

Cheers,
Todd

Hi Todd;
Thank you for the generous offer. I will say thank you and accept it.

We ran into some great luck and will sign a lease on a very cheap apartment tomorrow (only $150 a month!!) and will be moving there within 2 weeks. We’re very excited and I’m hoping the bookshelves that have been in storage since my last “home” are still intact and usable as well as the other household items and memorabelia. Thankfully I ‘only’ lost the books collected in the past year, not my entire library.

I look forward to rebuilding my library of McCaffrey novels as soon as finances permit, starting with the latest. Your and your mothers writing gave me many hours, days and weeks of enjoyment and was sometimes the only joy I had over the past year. The character depth, vivid descriptions and the closeness to reality that it’s all believable – just AWSOME!

Thank you for sharing your talents.

Dee

Hi Dee,

As you can see, I’ve edited your message a bit. I’ll get the bookplate out ASAP.

Thanks for your kind words. Writing is solitary work and it really helps when confronting a blank page to know that people liked my previous work and encourage me to write more!

Cheers,
Todd
