Letter from Dan

Dear Todd,

Read your book “Dragon’s Kin” and liked it very much. Been reading every thing about Pern since 78.

However I am very curious to hear about the proposed TV series. Is there a chance that it will ever happen? Or maybe a movie?

Looking forward to reading Dragonsblood, and still hoping that a movie or TV series is still in the works. Hey if they can make a human spider, why not a Weyr of Dragons?

Best Whishes
Dan

Dear Dan,

Thanks! I hope you’ll like Dragonsblood as well.

The last TV/film contract died. We’ll have to see what happens. Personally, I think a TV series is not a good idea — the stories are too big to put on the small screen.

If there’s any news on the TV/film front, I’ll be sure to share it with everyone.

Cheers,
Todd

I just finished Dragonsblood. Very Good!

I know you are very into the third pass, but is there any chance you will write something in the final pass so Toric gets his? Every time I read the last book it annoys me that he has gotten away with everything. Oh Well.

Thanks for all the insight to watch-whers. I always felt they were a little shortchanged. Will one ever be changed into a dragon? I guess I may have to just wait and see!

Thanks!

Hi Dana,

Thanks! I’m glad you liked Dragonsblood.

I don’t have any particular plans to work in the Ninth Pass. I’ve got a lot of work cut out in the Third Pass (and maybe one story in the First Pass, too).

Ah, will anyone ever use the dragon drug? I honestly don’t know. It made sense for Wind Blossom to create it, given all the unknowns she was facing. But if it were to be used — well, that would have to be at the end of a catastrophe so great that there were no dragons left on Pern. I certainly hope it’s never used.

Cheers,
Todd

Hi Todd
Many phrases of praise are running through my mind as I relish the delight of Dragonsblood however the best (and oh so Aussie) I think is “Bewdy Mate”. Well done!!! Your Mother is blessed to have such a talented son to pass her Pern baby onto. I laughed, I cried, the list goes on. Can’t wait for the next instalment.

Until the next time
Cheers from Down Under

Hi Kathleen,

Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed Dragonsblood.

Mum and I are busily working on “Dragon’s Fire” which is one of three (or four?) books between “Dragon’s Kin” and Dragonsblood.

Cheers,
Todd

Hi, I just got done reading Dragonsblood, and I have to say is excellent job! I had a hard time putting it down. I’m looking foward to other books that you will be writing.

I have one question. Have you ever considered coming to the Midwest, ie, Minnesota or Wisconsin for a book signing?

Thanks,
Sally jo

Hi Sally jo,

Thank you! I’m glad you liked Dragonsblood.

Mum and I are working on “Dragon’s Fire” which is a follow on from “Dragon’s Kin” and helps to fill in some back history in the Second Interval. We’ll also be talking a lot about firestone (as you might have guessed from the title).

I’d love to come to the midwest for a bok signing but no one’s invited me. I live in LA and the booksignings I’ve done so far started as a way of saying thank you to my local book stores.

Cheers,
Todd
