Is there any chance of a follow on to “Nimisha’s Ship”? There were a number of unanswered leads in the story.

Mum and I talked this over a while back, in fact I read “Nimisha’s Ship” for the first time (and enjoyed it immensely) because she asked me to collaborate with her on some sequels. However, nothing has come of it (yet). We seem to find ourselves asked to write Pern novels for some strange reason .

Greetings. Sometime ago Anne sent me a chronological list of the order to read the Pern series. since then my computer crashed and i lost everything including email addresses and files. could you please send me another chronological list to read the series?

Thanks,

Sandra

Hi Sandra,

I’m sorry about your computer. Back up early and often — a lesson I’ve learned the hard way. I usually keep three copies of anything I’m working on and burn CD’s of my “work” directory at regular intervals.

I can do better than provide you with a list, I can give you a pointer to an on-line list (two of them). If you go to Mum’s bibliography you’ll get both the published order and the chronological order. If you go here you’ll get my listing for chronological order.

I hope that helps.

Greetings and Salutations!

I have been waiting for Dragonsblood to come out for several years now. I was one of those privileged enough to hear your outline when you read it at Dragon*Con a few years back. You had a room full of adults wiping at their eyes then, and the final result was no less moving.

Well done, Todd. I’ve been rooting for you ever since that weekend, and I had a fantastic time hanging out with you. (Although you did seem somewhat bemused by the fotune cookies at Max Lager’s.) You proved to be a great sport, and you have a superb sense of humor. I feel that Pern is in good hands with you, and I think that you’ll serve it -and the fans- well.

I will always be a staunch defender and supporter, not just because I consider you a friend, but because you’re a just plain nice guy. You’re a fantastic writer, and incredibly patient with fans of all stripes, and you deserve kudos for your hard work with and for your mum.

Keep up the good work, Todd, and I’ll definitely be first in line for your new books.

Greetings, Heather!

And thanks for sticking with me all those years. I’m glad you were able to listen to Mum and I read Chapter Seven at Dragon*con — I was all wobbly-legged when I stood up afterwards. It’s one thing to write it, it’s an entirely different experience to read it aloud!

I still like the fortune cookies at Max Lager’s.

I shall keep up the good work, particularly with such loyal friends!

Cheers,
Todd

Hi there Todd!
Just e-mailed your mom yesterday w/ congrats re: SWFA Grand Master Award!! ‘Bout time! 🙂
Just a reminder: I’m a teacher in Florida, that tagged about w/ y’all at DragonCon* last year. My kiddo and I live at Hurricane “ground zero”….Frances and Jeanne gave us a sparkling new roof! anyhooo….
I was just perusing DRAGON’S BLOOD….and found something that I hadn’t seen before. Since I teach “The Smallest Dragonboy” to my 7th graders, I do a TON of background information re: Pern, Dragons, Genetics, etc. My (personal) notes from ages ago indicate that men and women ride blues and greens….and that greens are a bit…um…promiscuous. Did I misread something before…or did I misread DRAGON’S BLOOD as saying that only men ride blues? I know there are homosexual pairings, but I thought that women also could be blue riders….I’m geting old and have no long-term memory. Please help!
Also…in re: to your gas prices….here in the sunshine state, I’m paying $2.45 per gallon….$40.00 to fill-up!sheesh.
Thanks for your help….I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you and your mom at DragonCon* this year. I’ve been asked to be on a panel forum for YA literature and teaching Sci-Fi/Fantasy in the classroom! 🙂

many thanks,
Sheila

Hi Sheila,

To answer your question, only men ride blues. There’s been a lengthy discussion between Mum and myself on this and she’s adamant that bronzes, browns, and blues all select male riders while golds select female riders. Greens are lessy picky and will go with either — but for various reasons leading up to the Ninth Pass, greens have only had male riders to choose (until Mirrim). This is also true of the Second Interval when Dragonsblood starts.

As to our gas woes, I know that my friends in Europe all think it very funny that we’re now paying about half of what they pay — we used to pay about a quarter of what they paid (a lot of the cost of their gas or “petrol” comes from state-imposed taxes).

Looking forward to seeing you at Dragon*con!

Cheers,
Todd
