Request from Frank

Age 75. Just finished Dragon Harper and am passing it on to a grandson, also a fan of Pern. I provided him with a complete collection the Pern series.

Keep writing! We love the tales. However, please include the maps of Pern in future printings. When the books are passed on, the memory can grow dim.

Hi Frank!

I’m glad that you liked Dragon Harper. I’m sorry about the lack of a map. I felt that as most everything took place in and around Fort Hold, it wasn’t so necessary but I do agree that having a map is useful — I’ll be certain to get one in the next book.

Cheers,
Todd

Problem from Dale

Sir,

I recently purchased your novel “DRAGON HARPER” from the “Science Fiction Book Club”. I was enjoying reading the book until I got to page # 272, at which time I was left to ponder the rest of the story, since the page and book ended in the middle of a sentence. I would like to know, obviously, how the story should really end, what my options are to learn this and how, other than contacting SFBC, I can determine if this is a complete book. If you can please contact me it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Dale,

According to amazon.com, you should be seeing something more like 320 pages. Also, see sections at the end of the book including “Authors’ Notes”, “Acknowledgments” and “About the Authors”.

I understand how infuriating it is, I once had a book change into a completely different book from one page to the next — and it was from near the end of the book I was reading to mid-way in the book I wasn’t! It took me a while to realize that the “other” book was Piers Anthony’s “Castle Roogna”.

I think your best recourse is to contact SFBC. I’m sure they’ll want to solve your problem!

Cheers,
Todd
