Todd:

As a long-time fan of your Mum’s writing — and now yours, too, of course — I am so very glad to hear that the next Pern book is due out in November.

Since devouring DragonHarper in about 3 days after its publication, I have been waiting, none to patiently, for more story. I greatly look forward to it and the additional stories you are working on.

In the meantime, I had to read “something” and wanted to tell you how I have finally ventured off Pern to your mother’s other works. While waiting for your next book, I have read the entire Brainship series, Damia series, Doona (just to get to know YOU better), and most recently, The Death of Sleep and Sassinak.

I never expected to get as involved in these stories. Nothing, in my estimation, could ever be as good as the Pern stories — but, your mother has a great gift. I will likely continue with the Dinosaur Planet series until your Pern book publishes… BTW, what is the title again?

And, I highly recommend to the readers of your blog to also try some of Anne’s other works. They are well worth the readers’ time!!

Hi Lori!

Yup, Mum’s a great writer. I see that you’ve misssed Mum’s Freedom series. Don’t forget that one, too!

The new book you referred to, Dragonheart, is now the old book that was published a while back. The next new one will be Dragongirl and my publishers are reading it right now.

Cheers,
Todd

Thank you from Joan

Thank you from Joan

Thank you.. for continuing your mother’s world:)

I have been reading her books for many years, having seen a recommendation from Marion Zimmer Bradley on the back of the first Pern book.. when my son was young, the dragonriders gave him a love of reading that was missing up until he was about 12… again, thank you:)

Thank you, Joan!

Letter from Kirsty

Hi

I love the Pern books and think it’s great your continuing them. My favourite ones are about Menolly and how she comes to the Harper Hall, though I think it would be great if there was a book that tells more about her life right after she’s in the Harper Hall, like “The Masterharper of Pern” tells of Robinton’s life. For example I’ve often wondered about if she had a lover before Sebell, what happened when she had her kids, or maybe about her first journey to someplace and what happens?

Thank you alot and i hope these books go on forever.

Kirsty

Hi Kirsty,

Interesting ideas. However, a long while back my sister, Gigi (Georgeanne Kennedy) had some thoughts on writing a story about Menolly and Sebell and Mum said for her to go for it. Gigi’s raising a marvelous boy and busy being a mother herself at the moment but I still have hopes that we’ll see her tell the story one day — so I won’t joggle her elbow or try to steal it away from her!

Cheers,
Todd

Question from Nikki

Question from Nikki

Dear Todd,

This is for you and your Mom. When will The Skies of Pern be out on audio? My husband is unable to read and I can not read out loud to him. So lisening to CDs or tapes ia the only way he has of reading the pern series. We started reading them in ’75’ and I have all of them in hardback. Thank you for your time.
Nikki

Hi Nikki,

I’m glad you’ve been enjoying the books!

As far as I can see from a quick look online, The Skies of Pern is available now from Audible.com.

Cheers,
Todd
