The Usual Error by Pace & Kyeli Smith, illustrated by Martin Whitmore

The Usual Error by Pace & Kyeli Smith, illustrated by Martin Whitmore

This is an excellent book on communication and relationships — all sorts of relationships.

The Usual Error is the one we all make in expecting others to behave (and think) as we would ourselves. This mistake creates much misunderstanding in the world and, just for exposing that alone, “The Usual Error” should be required reading for anyone beyond their tweens.

I was really lucky in getting my copy of the book as I happen to know Marty Whitmore through my webmistress and when I noticed the book at Marty’s dealer table at Aggiecon, he kindly gave me a copy.

Of course this was, for me, a classic case of “the first one’s free” — now I’ll have to get several more to hand out to my friends!

The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson & the Olympians, Book 5) by Rick Riordan

The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson & the Olympians, Book 5) by Rick Riordan

There are some things worth starving for and my addiction to Rick Riordan’s marvelous Percy Jackson series is one of them.

I got the latest (and last) book in the (current) series on my doorstep today and finished it by this evening.

Mr. Riordan had me going, leaving in lots of little hints that could turn out either well or disastrously so the book was another page turner.

All in all, with the series concluded, I’d have to say that, in my humble opinion, Percy Jackson is a better than Harry Potter.
