Letter from Janie

Letter from Janie

Todd,
I just finished Dragonheart and really loved it. Now I am hoping that Dragonrider and Dragongirl are about Fiona. Do you know when Dragonrider will come out?

One thing I noticed that was different was that the dragon riders did not die when their sick dragons died. That is different. Did you have a reason for that?

Thanks for all your great stories!
Janie

Janie,

Thanks! As you may have seen in my answers elsewhere, Dragongirl does indeed have Fiona in it.

Dragongirl is due out in April 2010. Dragonrider has not yet been scheduled.

Actually, if you recall from Dragonflight, Lytol was an ex-dragonrider and not the only one — I’m merely extrapolating from Mum’s earlier works.

When I do break with “Tradition,” I always check with Mum first and get her permission! Mum, of course, is not like hidebound and is quite willing, within reason, to allow me to break with stodgy old “Tradition!”

Cheers,
Todd

Letter from Patricia

In the early ’80,s I got a hard back copy of The Dragonriders of Pern free by joining a book club. I fell in love with the stories and the people. I have all the Pern books and the audio books. We have four adopted special needs chidren ages 18 to 24. They love listening to the audio books with me. I am happy to share the Pern world with them. We look forward to each new book. Thank you and your Mother for many years of enjoyable reading!!!! You both have given the world so much happiness with your writing. Best of Health to you and Anne.

Patricia

Dear Patricia,

Thank you! Mum built a beautiful world and it’s an honor and a privilege to be allowed to share in it.

Cheers,
Todd

Another question from Pam

Another question from Pam

Why didn’t the dragons ‘honor’ Lorana with a dragon queen egg since she found the cure?

Well, that’s an interesting question. It has a number of parts, really:

1. Would Lorana want the pain of going through Impression all over again? (We know that Brekke didn’t.)

2. How would the dragons know to ‘honor’ Lorana?

3. Do the dragons not feel that they are honoring her by all talking with her and keeping her company?

You’ll find out more in Dragongirl.

Cheers,
Todd

Questions from Pam

Questions from Pam

I have 3 questions:
1. What color of blue is harper blue?
2. Where can I pre-order Dragongirl and (3) Dragonrider?

Hi Pam,

1. I can’t remember but I believe someone actually identified the exact Pantone shade that is harper’s blue. (Perhaps someone can remind me?)

2. On at least one UK website, Dragongirl is listed as available to pre-order now. Dragonrider doesn’t yet have a publication date.

Cheers,
Todd
