I have a challenge for you. A challenge that is in keeping with the life of Anne McCaffrey.

Mum always loved reading great stories by new authors. She loved singing their praises when she found them — Lois McMaster Bujold and David Weber spring immediately to mind.

So, here’s the challenge — write.

Write a story, write a poem, write a play. If you don’t feel the urge to write, then draw. If something else is your passion, then follow it instead.

But if you do write, then send it out. If you write science fiction or fantasy and you haven’t been published already, consider submitting your story to The Writers of the Future.

Mum was a judge of this contest and very proud of it (past winners include Alan Dean Foster, Robert J. Sawyer, Eric Flint, Kevin J. Anderson… the list goes on).

If your bent is artistic, consider submitting to the Illustrators of the Future.

If you’re still in school (high school, junior high), consider the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, Inc.

Show the world that Anne McCaffrey’s legacy is the brilliance of more writers and artists.
