Kind Note from Sharon

Kind Note from Sharon

Woke this morning thinking about Anne. I live in Northern Wisconsin and we recieved 9″ of heavy snow last night. I’ve been re-reading Poweres That Be so it doesn’t suprise me. I see you were at a con this last weekend and wish that all went well. Hope you’re doing O.K. and feel that your mom is proud and watching over you. Take care of yourself, live well. Be safe.
always a fan,
Sharon

Thanks!

I think Mum right now is just chuffed that she’s getting a Michael Whelan cover for Dragonwriter: A Tribute to Anne McCaffrey and Pern — Mum always loved a Whelan cover.

And thank you for your kind wishes!

Cheers,
Todd

Question from Pamela

Question from Pamela

Hello Todd,

I was wondering if you knew if the Harper Hall Trilogy will come out in ebook? I have been checking and checking and have yet to see it.

Thank you,
Pamela

Hi Pamela,

I suppose you wouldn’t be surprised to learn that your question is one of the most frequent ones I receive at my website.

I know this is being worked on but it’s something out of my hands and it also depends upon whether you’re talking abou eBooks in the US or in the UK/Commonwealth as different publishers were involved.

Certainly, they’ll be available soon, I hope!

Cheers,
Todd

Letter from Larry

Todd,

I was just rereading Master Harper of Pern, for the n’th time. I wanted to express my gratitude to your mother, but found that she had gone between. I wanted to tell her that as a young child I happended upon Dragonquest in my sixth grade reading class. I had never been a good student and hated to have to read. When I read that book, for the first time, I could see the story in my mind, just like it was happening to me. She opened my mind to the wonders of reading. I have read all of her books, and yours as well. I just wanted to say that, even though I never met her she was a profound influence on my life and of my daughter that has followed in my footsteps, as you have followed in your mother’s. I will be forever grateful for the gift that she has given to me, of dragons, of honor and of love.

Larry,

I’m glad that Mum’s books were your gateway into the world of reading, just as I’m sure that she’d be glad to hear that, too — and even happier to hear that your daughter likes them, too!

Cheers,
Todd

Proud!

Proud!

Janis Ian, the amazing singer, songwriter, writer, children’s book writer –  the list of accomplishments just continues to grow –  won her second Grammy, this time in the Spoken Word category for her Audible.com autobiography “Society’s Child”.

This makes her ninth nomination and eighth category!  (So that’s like she’s the Lois McMaster Bujold of music.)

You can watch her introduction to the Classical Awards at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8P-WE4GbLLQ, and her acceptance speech at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgrwWkuYRRk.

(The other nominees were First Lady Michelle Obama, former president Bill Clinton, Rachel Maddow, and Ellen Degeneres!)
