Question from Bonnie

Question from Bonnie

Dear Todd: I am so sorry about your mom’s passing and although I haven’t read any of the Pern books, I am totally obsessed with her Pegasus, FT&T books. I have read them all at least 50 times each and never tire of them. Her last book in that series is The Tower and the Hive. She left it wide open at the end. Is there any plans to finish that set.? I have been waiting forever to see if any more books would follow. Any of my friends and family that ask me for suggestions on Sci-Fi reads, I always steer them to this set, and suggest if they are into dragons that they should read her Pern books.

Sincerely: Bonnie. Loyal Fan

Dear Bonnie

I’m glad to hear that you liked The Tower and the Hive series. Mum felt that there wasn’t more to write about in that universe. While I loved the books, it’s been a while since I’ve re-read it but my inclination for the present is to respect her feelings on the subject.

Perhaps one day, we’ll revisit that.

Cheers,

Todd

Question from Patty

Question from Patty

When are these books going to be made into audible books: the Dinosaur planet series, the rest of the Petaybee series, all of the Acorna series, all of the planet pirates series, the rest of the Doona series, in general all of Anne’s books and yours too? Thanks.

Patty,

That’s a question for the audio book publishers: they’re the ones who decide what they’d like to produce. If more people ask them, that’ll make it easier for them to decide (because they’ll be able to count on sales).

Request from Charles (Aberdeen, Scotland)

Request from Charles (Aberdeen, Scotland)

Having enjoyed the Pern stories for longer than I care to remember, including the ones you have written, I wonder if there is any possibility of a follow up to “Skies of Pern.”

It would be good to know what happened to Golanth. Will he be able to fly and mate? Will Toric be dealt with once and for all?

I appreciate that you have your own “worlds” as well as this one to deal with, but a “final chapter” in the Pern saga would be nice to read – before I’m too old to read it!!

regards,

Charles

Dear Charles,

Would it help at all to know that one of the stories I’ve been working on recently is an alternate history set in Scotland?

I think the Estate is now at a point where my sister and I can begin to think of new stories on Pern. Don’t hold me to that — my sister may have different views on the matter. Or as Mum said about herself, “The rest is subject to change without notice.”

I certainly do understand your desire to get more Pern before you are divinely prohibited and I very seriouly take that under advisement.

Cheers,

Todd

Question from Regina

Question from Regina

will we ever get an ending to Lessa & F’lar life story?

Dear Regina,

That would be telling wouldn’t it? 🙂

Seriously, though, I think I’d be absolutely bawling if I had to write about the end of Lessa and F’lar. I’m pretty sure I’d rather just start a book with them gone rather than have to write about their going.
