Letter from Wahariwah’tsen:ri

My name is Wahariwah’tsen:ri (pronounced “wa-ha-lee-waht’-saun-lee”) and I am a Mohawk Indian from New York. I have been a fan of your mothers work since 1986 when I read of Menolly at Half Circle Seahold. this was the first book. after reading it I loved it but I had just discovered the love of reading and of the dreams and possibilities that the world of scifi fantasy had to offer me and drove me to read authors of Steve Perry, Robert Heinlein and William Shatner. I then happened across one
of your mother’s first books in the pern series and then remembered how I enjoyed the last book I read and decided to read all of them from beginning to end. I love the world of pern and am a forever fan. I have alway been curious tho… what would happen to pern and the Pernese culture if after the 1500 to 1600 years have gone by since landing; Thread has been conquered and everyone having knowledge from AIVAS; if say a spaceship from earth crash landed on pern, what kind of
dynamic would that set up? Interesting huh?

Sincerely,
Wahariwah’tsen:ri

Dear Wahariwah’tsen:ri,

What a beatiful name!

I’m glad that you like Mum’s work.

As to your question, I believe that Mum is working on something she humorously calls “After the Fall Is Over” which would somewhat address your thought.

I should warn you that writers aren’t usually at a loss for ideas and they’re very wary of taking suggestions from readers as there have been some rather sad legal battles as a result.

Cheers,
Todd
