Dragonholder – eBook

Waaayyy back in 1999, Del Rey published Dragonholder: The Life and Dreams (so far) of Anne McCaffrey written by me, Todd McCaffrey. It was a marvelous scrapbook idea and quickly sold out.

The rights have reverted to me and I’ve spent the past two weeks carefully converting it to eBook format.  It’s now available in NookKindle, and trade paperback formats.

  1. Thank you for taking the painstaking effort to do this for us. 🙂 We appreciate you doing it!

  2. This post made me actually consider buying an e-reader (I have been avoiding them as much as I’ve been avoiding an iPhone, iPod and/or iPad) until my Dear Husband suggested looking one more time on AbeBooks and Amazon – where I found a great condition ex-library copy of the book. It arrived a very short time later and has been very much enjoyed! Any chance of a follow-up on what’s happened since then?

  3. Jen, it’s unlikely that there will be a follow on. Since Dragonholder, there have been several other more traditional biographies of Mum that cover the more recent years.

  4. I’msorry to hear of your mother’s passing! She will be remembered!Thank you for all your advice.your mom inspired me.she was kind enough to talk with me. .many years ago.. I met her in Canada! I m hoping you might continue that great wonderful world she started! May God bless !

  5. Thank you for the email today, Christmas Eve. I am so behind on news. I love, love, love every Pern book there is. Thank you for writing and continuing what your Mum has created. In my heart of hearts, I wish I too could live on Pern and help fight the good fight of thread. I treasure every written word of this world and I hope you continue. I missed the news about your Mum and I miss her, even though I’ve only read her books. Her books kept me sane through some tough times in real life. Anne McCaffrey is a Master of Pern and a Master of my heart. She is always with us and thank you, Todd, for your continuation of your work on Pern. My condolences, even if late, and Anne McCaffrey lives on in my heart and memories just as Moreta, Lessa, and all the like.

  6. It just occured to me as I read Brenda’s comment that your mom was a ‘Master.’ There could almost be a Author’s Hall and your mom would be the Master Author… I’ve been intrigued by several book series over the years, but this is the only one that I have read and re-read and re-read. I’m working my way through them yet again. I’m missing a couple of books and will have to replace the ones I lost and get the ones I never got when they came out… Thanks again to you and you mom for everything!

  7. I was very sorry to hear about your Mother’s passing. She was a wonderful, wonderful writer and I, too, wish I could live on Pern and, if not impress a dragon, perhaps a fire lizard. It’s comforting to know that she is now with Master Harper Robinton at Cove Hold drinking a goblet of that good Benden red that they so loved. Thank you for continuing her series, I’m looking forward to the next installment.

  8. I am looking forward to getting this on Kindle. I always wanted it it is one of the few books I am missing frm you and your Mom. When I get the money I will order it.

  9. I am having trouble getting Anne’s Freedom Series and BrainShip Series for the Canadian made Kobo e-reader?

  10. In this post, I provide a link to Transworld, Mum’s UK/Commonwealth publisher. They seem to be offering an ePub format (Kobo’s format).
