Interested in 3D modelling? Check this out!

On and off I’ve mentioned my love of modo, the great 3D modelling software.

I may have mentioned the Los Angeles modo User’s Group (LAmUG) and the incredibly brilliant people that hang out there (people who, among others, produce the special effects for many of the films we see today).

Well, if you’re interested and you can get to LA the weekend of March 16 and 17, you can learn from pros how to use this great product (and get a 25% discount on the purchase price of modo).

  1. Thanks for the link to the modo workshops…I was wondering if you do much 3d modelling? I was looking at the renders on one of the other pages here and thought that they looked like they may have been done in Vue and was curious about whether you used rendering program’s to create the images.

Also thank you very much for continuing with the Pern series. As a long time reader of your mums work it is good to know that we will continue to see the series develop.

  2. Pen,

Yes, I do a lot of images in Vue. Some of the models are created with modo.

    Cheers,

  3. Thanks for the reply. I thought they looked like Vue. Did you model and rig the dragon in modo? I’m slowly learning to model in hexagon and know some of the basics in zbrush but haven’t got to the stage of creating figures yet. Cheers Pen
