Letter from Symon

Letter from Symon

I just wanted to drop a note and thank both yourself and Anne for creating and continuing such a wonderful series as Pern. I had a troubled childhood and often sought solace in books as a way from escaping the world when it became too much.

The Pern books (and the other books by Anne) were a ray of light that penetrated the darkness that surrounded me.

I found believable characters, no, people who rose above there problems and troubles to survive and fight for something they believed in.

I found people that accepted differences and never judged other for it. They stood with a sense of justice and the ability to look beyond the now and see what tomorrow may bring.
I was at a panel once not long after “Master Harper of Pern” came out in the UK. I got a copy signed, but it is very hard to try to describe the grateful thanks you felt for the life line that was offered in a single “Thank you” that you have time for in those lines. That is why I am writing here.

And thanks to you for carrying on, Pern is in safe hands. Also a thank you to Anne if she sees these for everything that I couldn’t say to her, but have written above.

Symon

Hi Symon,

Thank you for writing! It’s always wonderful to hear that Mum’s books have had such a positive impact on people. I’m glad they helped.

Mum and I are pleased with “Dragon’s Fire” and are hoping that “Dragon’s Heart” will be every bit as enjoyable as our other collaborations.

Cheers,
Todd
