Its 2018; is there any hope of a Pern movie being made in my lifetime? (By the way, I am 65 years old, so please hurry with it….)

I guarantee you that if all that was required was a snap of the fingers, a Pern movie would have been made ages ago! Mum would have loved to have seen it.

But we live with the golden rule: “He who has the gold makes the rules.”

In Hollywood, that’s the studios, not authors.

Studios have been interested and optioned the rights to Pern for the past 34 years.

So far none has ever come to fruition.

Maybe some day…!

I had a question about ‘The Girl Who Heard Dragons’. What was up with that book? It was like it switched to an entirely different story part way through. Love the series. I started with ‘Dragon Song’ when I was 12 and have read every book since. But was rather confused by that one particular book. Would you be willing give some insight please?

When Mum passed on she left specific instructions in her Will that only two people could write on Pern: me and my sister, Gigi. So, no, I cannot give you permission for such an undertaking.

That doesn’t stop people from writing fan fiction (which is not for sale, not for profit — see Mum’s Fan Fiction Rules for more information).

Mum always encouraged writers to build their own worlds. Many people were inspired by her and went on to become some of her favorite authors. Perhaps you could take on the challenge?

I am waiting for another Pern novel. I like those books. I had an idea about a sequel what if you could write about the effects of changing the course of the thread falling on some other world and then that planet gets affected by it and the survivors are seeking the cause of that and find Pern?
I would love to hear whether you are writing another Pern novel. I love you Namasté
