Another letter from Lisa

Another letter from Lisa

Hey…

I totally forgot to mention in my last email — I appreciate your posting about email frauds and stuff. I have been “collecting” this type of information for quite a while and posting it on my page (www.vtladycelt.com), at least since a few of my, shall I say, gullible friends have been sending around many “interesting” emails. I got tired of sending out responses which politely said, “Get a grip, y’all! This is hype!!!”

So, I did have a purpose for writing earlier, other than insomnia… no offense…

Thanks again,

Lisa in Vermont

Hello again, Lisa!

I’ve kept your reference to your web page in the copy of your letter that I’ve posted here. If you’d prefer me not to, let me know and I’ll remove it.

I’m glad that you’re keeping hoax information. Too many people are being taken by scams nowadays. I think we all like to believe that no one would misuse such a marvelous resource as the World Wide Web but it’s not so.

Still, I hope you got some sleep.

Cheers,
Todd

Letter from Sara Joy

Hello again,

I was just wondering if you or your mother are going to be doing anything in New York State sometime this year. I can’t travel much so it’s really hard for me to see you guys outside of New York.

If not is there any way I can get your autograph with out seeing you. Though I would rather meet you both, even if just at a book store.

Thanks again
Sara Joy

Hi Sara Joy,

I’m afraid that Mum’s only trip to the States this year will take her to Los Angeles and Atlanta.

I haven’t been asked to do anything near New York myself but you never know what the future will hold, so keep looking at my “Upcoming Events” just in case.

As for getting signatures — I’ve got some bookplates for Dragon’s Kin that we made up. They’re signed by both of us — they fit right over the title page with the “Anne McCaffrey” and “Todd McCaffrey” side-by-side. If you’d like one of those, write me again with your snail mail address and I’ll get one off to you. As for Mum’s signature, you can go to her website annemccaffrey.org and send her a note asking for one — she’s got some special ones that should fit in just about any book.

I hope that helps!

Cheers,
Todd

Hi Todd!
Hey, I’m just *another* fan of yours (and, naturally, your mother — I know, me and everybody else, eh?). I figured I’d just drop a note, since you provided the opportunity 😀 Love the web pages – do you do your own work? I have just recently discovered your site (up late, can’t sleep, hubby works nights and babe’s sleepin… not that that’s important) whilst perusing your mom’s. Or is it “mum” in Ireland? My hubby was raised in England, though he was (oddly enough) born in Massachusettes. I’ve been through about 4 sets of Pern novels since high school.

Honestly, I’ve only read one of your books, the biography on your mom… it’s too early in the morning for me to recall the name of the thing… but I think it’s great and look forward to reading more. When to do you have time to write, what with being a pilot and rocket scientist, et al??? I thought *I* was busy with five kids (all girls) and a home day care… sheesh. Not that you have to answer any of this; just rambling. No doubt you get tons of fan mail, perhaps another notch in your “got another fan” stick (or gun, or whatever) may brighten your day a bit.

I’ve been told I’d make a good writer, but my warranty ran out on my 40th birthday and with it my imagination. So I just live in the world your mother created and leave it at that. Besides, my grammer, spelling and punctuation leave MUCH to be desired.

Anyhoo… you’re on the west coast? I somehow remember a snippet somewhere on your site of that. I was born and raised in the SF Bay Area, know it well and have no plans on returning there (heh). My mother lives in Southern Cal (Vista) and is happily working for the Sheriff’s department. Now, she’d make a good writer. She just turned 72 and I, at 40, have a hard time keeping up with her. I have been all over the United States, and in Japan, and have happily settled in Vermont. VT’s tried hard to get rid of me, but I tend to hang on, like the plague.

Nice pic. But, you knew that. Anyway… I’ll let you get back to your scads of fan mail, et al, and say, “Thanks” for continuing on in your mother’s work, giving this one housewife/caretaker/mother a place to escape once in a while.

Thanks again,

Lisa

Hi Lisa,

I hope you got some sleep, especially with all those kids. When I was growing up, I’d always thought of having boys but I must admit, I’m more than pleased to have a daughter! Five girls must be “interesting”. And a day care! I’d say that you do have your plate full — for the time being. But there’ll come a time when you get your breath back — and then maybe you should sit down and collect your thoughts on your favorite word processor.

I haven’t been flying or rocketing since my daughter was born, so it’s pretty easy to work on the writing.

Mum is a great writer, isn’t she? She’s a tough act to follow and an inspiration at the same time. She’s written an introduction for Dragonsblood (that’ s the Pern book that I’m busily revising) — she let me read it and it’s quite flattering.

I am, indeed on the west coast, living in the environs of greater Los Angeles.

I’m glad you like the photo — I was playing with my video camera which can also take stills, trying to see how different lights worked and as I didn’t have anyone else who’d sit still, I used myself. I was pleasantly surprised!

Cheers,
Todd
