Letter from Duran

Thanks. I needed that.

But I was wondering if I could still send you what I’ve got so far. I still want an expert opinion, and You and Anne are my favorite authors. Espescially dragon wise. I love dragons(Just to let you know).

I was also wondering, would there be a way I can talk to you and Anne? It’s always been a dream of mine to meet you guys, but I have never gotten the chance. And now that I have internet, I have a chance, and I’m taking it while I can. Thank you for the help, and thank you for being an author.

Duran

Duran,

You’re welcome. Keep writing.

No, you may not send me what you’ve got so far. I’m not an editor. I’m also going to be very busy writing more Pern books and on other projects — and I presume you don’t want me to slow down on those!

My advice is to join a writers group. You can even try critter.orgs — an online writers group.

As for talking, probably the best way to do that is to get to some science fiction conventions like dragoncon or the annual World Science Fiction Convention. There are also local conventions, try Locus for convention listings. In fact, if you’re hoping to become a science fiction or fantasy writer, subscribe to and readLocus.

On my website in “Upcoming Events”, I list every convention that I’ve agreed to attend, so you can see where I’ll be in the future. But just go to a convention and find like-minded people — that’ll help a lot and it’ll even inspire you to be creative when you get back home.

Cheers,
Todd
