Hello Mister McCaffrey,
I just read in your complete Pern book listing you plan to write many books based on Pern. And how happy I am you do! I was actually wondering if you had some more projects under hand. I see I worried for nothing 🙂
There is just a little thing from this list that troubles me though. Your projects in the 3rd Pass include two titles: Dragon’s Fire and Dragonharper. Do you know that both these titles are (very) closely related to two “make your own adventure” style books, or Crossroads Adventure, that Jody Lynn Nye wrote based on your Mother’s Pern books. These books relate events from the 9th Pass. Dragonharper deals with young Robinton’s trip to become Journeyman and Dragonfire deals with Mirrim’s story (The first girl to impress in the 9th Pass).
I don’t know if it is a problem or not. Please, tell us 🙂

There are several reasons why this probably isn’t a problem:
1. The titles are working titles and may be changed before the books are published. In fact the working title for “Dragon’s Kin” was actuaally “Nuella’s Dragon” but it was a bit too much of a giveaway (although I still tend to think of the book as “Nuella’s Dragon”).
2. I’ve known Jody personally since 1984, I don’t think she’ll be bothered by similar titles.
3. Unlike Jane Yolen’s “Dragon’s Blood,” Jody’s books are out of print which makes things even less of an issue.
But thanks for bringing up the subject, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen those Choose Your Own Adventure books.
