Letter from Todd (not me)

Hi Todd!

It’s rare to be talking with another Todd.

Thanks for your note on the Discovery Channel movie.

The technology for making dragons has been around for a while now. What’s cool is that it’s finally become cheap enough that someone could make a really good adaptation of Dragonflight and not a special effects movie. Seeing dragons in flight on the big screen would be neat but for me the real action is to show the bond between dragon and rider, to get us to feel Lytol’s pain, to see the bitter despair in F’lar’s eyes when Robinton says “Tomorrow you must send for F’nor … and Pridith” — those are the things that will make Dragonflight more than just another movie.

Cheers,
Todd

Hello Marisa,

Thank you. I’m thrilled that Dragonsblood surpassed your expectations.

As for what happens next, I’m afraid there will be a wait while Mum and I fill in a bit more of what happened before — we’re working on “Dragon’s Fire” and then we’ll tuck into “Dragon’s Harp.” Not that I haven’t been thinking about Lorana, Kindan, M’tal, B’nik, D’vin, J’talen, Cisca, and K’lior — and many more people you’ve met and some you’ve yet to meet! Like a good stew, letting the next book cook for a while will only make it that much better when it’s done!

Cheers,
Todd

Letter from Diane

Diane,

The world of film/TV is a mysterious world fraught with peril, intrigue, and maddening delays.

Even when licensed, films may be in “development hell” for 10-20 years. “The Princess Bride” took over 20 years to get made.

We live in hope. Cross your fingers!

Cheers,
Todd
