Letter from Bill

Dear Todd,

I just wanted to say congratulations on your newest story of Pern. I can say you truly have taken the Pern adventures to new heights. I can say honestly that your have your mother’s gift of story telling, and also have been the only person to bring me to tears and I read this book. Only one other author has been able to do this and that is none other then your beloved Mother Anne. I can remember being so distraught for the loss of Moreta Dragonlady of Pern when she went between without a point to go to, I cried so much for her loss. You were able to do that as well with the pain I felt for the riders as they suffered the loss of their weyrmates as they lost their battles with the dragon sickness. Well, again, thank you and please, please, please continue this story line. I eagerly await to see how Fiona and T’mar continue their relationship and how they fight to keep Pern safe from the dreaded Red Star (planet).

Bill

Dear Bill,

You’re welcome! I’m glad that you’ve found so much to enjoy on Pern.

Fiona and T’mar will continue their story in Dragongirl which is even now with the publishers.

Cheers,
Todd

Hey Todd,

I was checking out your “Great Reading” list (which, frankly, you should update more ^^) and noticed the complete lack of Suzanne Collin’s “The Hunger Games”, which was my favorite novel of ’08. You need to add that to your TBR pile.

And while I’m sitting here, ordering you to go read amazing books, would you care to do an interview with me for my tiny little blog, WORD for Teens? I know you might say no, but hey, it’s worth a shot. I only do one a month, so it could take you to November to answer and I’d still be able to ‘view you.

Thanks! (Go read it. Dooooo it. You know you want to…)

“Books are life.”

Hey Nicole,

Okay, I’ll give “The Hunger Games” a look see (at some point).

I’ll contact you via email to set up an interview.

Cheers,
Todd

I want to express my thanks for you and your mother’s wonderful imagination and your work toward furthering my reading enjoyment.

I cannot purchase many of your works because I am on SSD and the money doesn’t stretch that far.

I get to the Public Library each week and am always on the look out for more novels of Pern. I have spent many years living through your families writings.

If I am not being too forward I would like wish you and your familiy long life and safe flight.

Hi Twila,

I’m glad that you’ve been able to read on Pern. We like public libraries and are thrilled to know that people make the best use of them.

Thank you for your kind wishes (and no, you’re not being too forward!).

Cheers,
Todd

Hi Todd,

Yet again I am totally in love with Pern. There isn’t a book of your Mum’s that I haven’t read, and I am so pleased that you are carrying on my favourite series.

You have breathed new life into this story and for that I must thank you. I have not been able to put your books down, and have shed many a tear over them.

However, I have just finished Dragonheart in record time and now have nothing to read.

Please can you give us avid readers an idea of when we can expect the next installment.

Thanks again for reviving these fabulous tales and keep up the good work.

Louise

Hi Louise,

Thanks! Wow! Although, actually, the whole idea of writing on Pern was our editor’s suggestion. Mum heartily endorsed it from way back even when I thought I could never write on Pern (note to self: never say never).

I’m glad you enjoyed Dragonheart. I hope you’ll be pleased to know that I started Dragongirl the very day after I finished Dragonheart and it is now with the publishers.

And I started on its sequel the day after I finished it but I’ve had to set it aside for a breather and to work on our next collaboration.

Cheers,
Todd
