Two more questions from Carol

Two more questions from Carol

I forgot to ask, will Kindan ever impress a dragon?

I was also wondering if there was going to be any novels that took place after thread is no longer a threat? Or the other passes like the oldtimers’ original time and the other passes? It’d be interesting to find out 🙂

Hello again, Carol,

Now (eyes twinkling), why would you ever imagine that K’dan — er, Kindan — might ever Impress a dragon?

As for your second question, I’m not sure what you’ve read. If you’ve read “The Skies of Pern”, then you’ve read the latest book in the 9th Pass.

There certainly may be other novels in other Passes — some people were wondering at Dragon*con if there would be any sequels to Dragonseye, for example.

We’ll just have to see. For the moment, there’s still a whole bunch going on in the 3rd Pass that wants to get told.

Cheers,
Todd

Just wanted to say I have enjoyed these novels since I was in high school and find the new ones very enthralling.

I got the 2001 PC game by Ubi soft – Dragonriders: Chronicles of Pern – which I enjoyed very much. Unfortunately, it only worked when I had Windows ME/2000. I don’t suppose they’ll ever do an update of that game to work with Vista or a new one altogether, will they?

Thanks for your time. 🙂

Hi Carol,

I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the books! Mum has built a beautiful world and — what’s even cooler — she lets me play in it!

I believe that the Ubisoft game won’t be updated. I imagine we might see something when we get the Pern film made.

Cheers,
Todd

Just love the dragon rider books (so do my dogs).
I have to replace copies the dogs have enjoyed LOL.

Looking forward to Dragongirl.

I was wondering if you would be going forward from the “last pass” of thread at all?

Before the dolphins were re-introduced I was wondering if a “brain ship” was stranded somewhere on Pern. Maybe but the next time the Red Star passes and doesn’t drop thread Pern will be ready for visitors from the “home “world.

Love the books!

Hi Kristi,

Thank you!

No, no brain ships will be hiding on Pern. Mum isn’t big on “cross-over” universes and I agree with her. (Anyway, after twenty-five hundred Turns, that would be an awfully bored brain ship, don’t you think?)

Mum’s made it pretty clear that she wants to continue working on the 9th Pass books and the characters that she’s grown to love so well. I understand, as she’s willing to let me do the most of the work with the 3rd Pass characters for much the same reason.

We talked about collaborating on “After the Fall is Over” but then decided we had so much still to tell in 3rd Pass and she was as eager as you to see what twists I could impress her with that we decided to work there together.

Dragongirl will be out on my birthday (April 27, 2010).

Cheers,
Todd

Hi Todd,

Just want to say that I became hooked years ago on your mum’s writings of Pern and you have carried it on for me beautifully – I just wish that you could write faster or I am going to have to learn to read slower! My most favorite parts of the books are always when someone is impressing a newly hatched dragon. Thank you so very much for continuing the world of the Dragons of Pern.

Bonnie

Hi Bonnie,

Your wish has been granted! I managed to get Dragonrider done in less than a month. Mind you, I spent a good four months beforehand plotting but even so, Dragonrider finished in half the time it took to do Dragongirl.

And today I started on Dragon’s Time.

Cheers,
Todd
