I fell in love with your Mother’s books when I was in HS in the 80′s. She was a fantastic author and I was terribly saddened to hear of her passing. Immediately following the news I have spent the past year re-reading the entire series and have thoroughly enjoyed the books you wrote together. I sincerely hope to see additional books in your line up as I just started reading Dragon’s Time and am quickly coming to the conclusion of a wonderful journey. Your Mother created a wonderful universe and you have done a fantastic job continuing that adventure.

With all of the remakes hitting the big screen it would be a wonderful surprise to see a Dragonriders movie. Is there any chance of the books making the leap to the big screen?

Randy,

Rest assured: there are a lot of stories still to be told in the twenty-five hundred Turn history of Pern. And that excludes stories set after the Ninth Pass. What’s changed is that Anne McCaffrey won’t be directly involved in the telling of those new stories but she did spend a lot of time training her replacements — both myself and my sister, Georgeanne. So I would be very surprised if there weren’t more stories of Pern.

As for movies — we’re talking Hollywood. We cross our fingers and hope that it will get made one day — and we cross our fingers and hope that it will get made well.

Cheers,
Todd

I just finished reading City of Angels — totally gobsmacked. Thank you for such a beautiful and hopeful story. You have a rare voice. Thank you for sharing your gift. Thank your siblings and family for sharing your mum with us — growing up she was like an angel mom voice for me. Back in 1979 when I was 9 I read Dragonflight and was hooked. Sorry for your loss. Blessings on you and your family. I hope you continue to be a harper and sing songs of loves divine gifts.

Michelle

Dear Michelle,

Wow! Thank you! I’m glad you liked City of Angels. Mum did, too. She said, “I think you’ve got a blockbuster here.”

I’m rather surprised that you ploughed through Dragonflight at age 9. I think the youngest person I’ve heard about was only 7 but even so, that’s good going.

Mum left a great legacy and a great voice. We all miss her but she had a good, full life. Thank you for your condolences.

Thanks again,
Todd

My husband Mitch introduced me to the incredible works of your mother and Pern via a Boxed set of the 1st 3 books Dragonflight, Dragonquest and The White dragon. As he too is an engineer and very intelligent gentleman he gave me the set AFTER our Honeymoon! That was November of 1981. I have since traveled in my mind to each of her worlds and vicariously lived out each story with the characters that are as real to me as my own dear family. My Grandmother Lucy Holland looks very much like your own dear mum. It saddens me to think of them both gone from this plane of existence, but would not be surprised to learn they enjoy a cup together now and again! My sincerest sympathies for you and yours loss. Connie

Connie,

I see you married a very wise man! Congratulations.

Mum was a lot of fun to be around and we’re all fortunate to have her works remain as a lasting legacy.

Cheers,
Todd
