Dear Todd,
I have enjoyed the Pern Series created by your mother, and again through the different perspectives and point of views that you have wrote with. I believe I have, and have read, every story by both you and your mother.
My question: Through different story lines there have been times where the last Gold Queen was endangered – therefore all of Dragonkind also endangered as well as Pern.
I have wondered, the greens were rendered sterile due to chewing firestone to fight thread. But, could a situation happen where at the end of a Pass or shortly thereafter – where an event happens and the last Golden Queen is too old to produce eggs or dies by some tragic event, “plague srikes weyrwoman” and there is but 1 young green female who hasn’t chewed firestone yet and it is up to her to restore dragonkind and have a Gold Egg or all will be lost.

Thank you for your letter.
In answer to your question — greens can only produce more greens and blues. The bronzes, browns, and gold are only produced by queens.
That said how-ev-errrrr, you might want to re-read Dragonsblood carefully. Or wait until Dragongirl gets out (Dragongirl is the sequel to Dragonheart). Or the sequel to Dragongirl.
