I am interested in writing children’s books based in Pern. I would love your blessing on such a challenge. I would send you some of the story so you can approve of it.

Dear Marie,

When Mum passed on she left specific instructions in her Will that only two people could write on Pern: me and my sister, Gigi. So, no, I cannot give you permission for such an undertaking.

That doesn’t stop people from writing fan fiction (which is not for sale, not for profit — see Mum’s Fan Fiction Rules for more information).

Mum always encouraged writers to build their own worlds. Many people were inspired by her and went on to become some of her favorite authors. Perhaps you could take on the challenge?
