Todd’s recipe for killing “Con Crud”

First, try not to get it. This involves packing and drinking lots of “Emergen-C” (Airborne doesn’t work as well). I recommend Emergen-C for any time when you’re in a high-stress, high-demand situation. The stuff works wonders.

Foolish me, however, I forgot to pack and didn’t find any at the con.

If you get con crud, this is what works for me:

Lots of Rest
Lots of Emergen-C
Lots of Water
Chicken Noodle Soup
Vicks Vapor Rub on your chest
NEVER drink hot or cold liquids, stick with room temperature if possible, otherwise go with warm or cool
I’ve also had luck with small amounts of colloidal silver on the reasoning that bacteria are less likely to like it than my cells.

Know Wil Wheaton

So, way back in 2003, I posted a blog on Loscon30 where I mentioned meeting Wil Wheaton on a panel.

We were talking about how to get published and when Armin Shimerman mentioned that Bill Fawcett was responsible, I broke in to add that Bill Fawcett had given me my start too. So Wil wrote on his notepad “Know Bill Fawcett.”

Almost eight years later, I finally got Bill Fawcett to introduce himself to Wil Wheaton. Wil was nonplussed at the meeting, having had no reminder of our long-ago panel.

However, on the way back home, Wil and I were on the same plane together on the way to Burbank.

Now, I know from my mother’s experiences, that fans can be very draining from time-to-time so I respect a “big name”‘s right to privacy. However, when another fan introduced himself, I felt emboldened, and reminded Wil of our panel together and explained that that was why he was introduced to Bill Fawcett.

So now the karmic circle is complete!

Pern Movie News

If you were at Dragon*con, you already know all this (and more). But for those who weren’t able to make it, we can share the following bit of cool news:

“David Hayter is taking a good long look at the first three books because, after all, we’re all hoping to see more than just *one* Pern movie. So rather than just diving in, he’s spending time getting acquainted with the larger story offered by the big three adult books (Dragonflight, Dragonquest, The White Dragon).”
