Letter from Frederick
Sir:
I first picked up Dragonflight while serving Vietnam in 1969, since then I have awaited each new book to be published. Your mother was a great writer, which I believe was passed to you. With your books I find the same wonderment and enjoyment as I did with her books. I hope to read more of your books based in Pern, as your skills are equal to your Mothers. I will keep an eye on your Blog and Amazon for new material from your hand, although I now buy the Audio book versions anymore and continue to replace the books as they wear out. I place you and your mother’s writing right beside to Robert Heinlein.
Thank you for picking up her Torch.
Sir,
Wow, thanks! Mum would have been thrilled to hear from a Vietnam vet; her father served in World War I, World War II, and consulted for the UN in Korea. Her brother fought in WWII, Korea, and served in a ‘special’ capacity during the Vietnam era (if you know what I mean). Afterwards he wrote a ‘fictional’ story called Khmer Gold which was quite a fun read.
Thanks for your service (one vet to another ‘tho I was only a ‘Cold Warrior’).
Cheers,
Todd
